Franky Lights

Monstrosity and abnormality as found in nature and medicine were the source of inspiration for this project. By researching and analysing different types of abnormality, the designer’s goal was to apply all these deformations to everyday objects that, despite their extraordinary appearance, still perform a regular function. This project blurs the boundaries between art and design borrowing techniques from sculpture in order to create a unique object. The Styrofoam inner structure provided endless creative possibilities regarding shape and volume, while the polyester and fiberglass layers on top strengthened and solidified the final forms.
